It’s official; we are now Yelpable! As a loyal Yelp referencer for restaurants and the like, I am super excited about Salt Side Down Chocolates having a page where fans can express their undying love and affection for our salty truffles. It’s a great way for people to find local favorites and new stars. Hopefully we’ll start as the latter and evolve into the former.
Sure, I know there’s always the possibility that we’ll get the odd negative review or lukewarm shout-out. But that’s fine; I’m pretty much immune to the Yuck Face these days.
No really! I know you’re having a hard time believing me, particularly because many of my posts are filed under “gripes”. But since we’ve been doing the farmers markets and local events all summer, my proverbial thin-skin has toughened-up quite a bit.
Indeed, I had an entire conversation with a kindly older gentleman at the Occidental Farmers Market this past Friday about how much he loves this other local chocolatier’s truffles. He went on and on for a good minute (and a minute is really an eternity when you have a plastic smile plastered on your face) about the amazing flavors and delectably delicious truffles said chocoaltier makes and how we’re so lucky to have him in Sonoma County.
Um, yeah.
Chopped liver is how I was feeling inside, but I just smiled and agreed outwardly. Yes, I felt slightly deflated, but we had so many other well-wishers and chocolate swooners that evening that I realized I just can’t take these things personally. I’ll just have to make the best truffles I can and hope that people find them more delicious and unique than what’s already out there.
So, that said. Please Yelp us . . . but remember what your mother said, if you don’t have anything nice to say . . .
In addition to our new Yelp! page, we also have a great new write-up on The Knot’s San Francisco Blog. It’s all about our unique truffle bar offering for modern brides. To be sure, truffle bars will soon be the new cupcake!
